Located in the former facilities of EDP, Critical Software's office in Porto is characterized by a sober façade – an orthogonal mesh of aluminum lines and glass planes, which reinforce the verticality of the building and confer elegance and personality to the urban profile.

The renovation and redesign of the six-story building consisted in the removal and expansion of the floor, the introduction of new ceilings and partition walls and the rehabilitation of all carpentry, as well as technical and electrical installations. The purpose of the intervention was the development of wide, visually continuous spaces, while obeying to a predetermined spatial arrangement.

The verticality is reinforced by a set of iron tubes, which line up in partitions for the working rooms. In each floor these unique elements have different chromatic finishes, creating distinct visual identities. The subtle changes in the material used in each floor reinforce the differentiation of spaces, without compromising their permeability. One of the building’s highlights is the top floor, which – through new windows frames – allows to fully enjoy the relationship with the surrounding space and the architectural environment of the city.
