Located about 200 meters from the sea, “Casa de Francelos” has three floors above ground, distributed in a square volume with 15 meters of side length. The building is characterized by its compact appearance – resulting from the volumetric intersection that materializes the various segments of the program –, which is enhanced by the selection and careful use of the coating materials. The combination of different volumes defines openings, balconies, terraces and patios, which extends the house from the inside out, while providing the necessary sun protection to the ground floor.
The ground floor program consists of the garage and technical spaces, as well as the living room and kitchen, which lead to a landscaped courtyard. On the first floor, we can find an office and three bedrooms. The master bedroom communicates with a terrace where an outdoor swimming pool was set facing the sea. Access from the garden to this segment of the program was created through a staircase.
The second floor translates into a volume laid on the remaining building and also gives access to a terrace. On this floor, there is one of the house’s highlights: a luminous living room with sea view.
