BessaHotel Boavista is a four-star hotel located near the Bessa football stadium, in Porto. The proposal for the architectural development of the block was based on the conception of elevations with a unitary but distinct language, working on the three-dimensionality concept of the facade’s plans.
The main elevation consists of ripped spans throughout the horizontal and vertical development of the interior compartments, both in bedrooms and bathrooms, and even on common access stairs. This design has been made possible by the use of different types of glass, which allow both transparency and opacity, which, together with light control materials, blinds and interior curtains, allows this solution to be adopted throughout the elevation.
The hotel program includes 109 bedrooms spread over six floors and is organized from a central corridor in the longitudinal direction of the building, allowing the implementation of rooms facing the north and south facades. The suites are located on the top floor, which has recessed facades. The support program for housing units is developed on the ground floor and first basement, where the hotel restaurant is located. This area gets natural light through a patio facing the south facade.
